What’s needed at camp?

• water shoes (for trips to the creek)

• extra change of clothing/warmer or cooler clothes/rain parka or lightweight jacket (as you know, the weather can change fast! Let's be prepared for beautiful sunny days and possible cooler rainy days)

• lunch (we will provide a daily snack and water)

• water bottle or cup (sometimes is part of the mess kit)

• mess kit (please send on day one and plan on it being at camp every day)

• sunscreen, hat, etc.

• bug spray 

• good hiking shoes/tennis shoes (we are hiking up and down a decent hill throughout the day. Shoes should have good traction and be comfortable. Please, no open toed shoes, dress shoes or dress boots. If it's rainy, keep in mind, everything will be wet! Waterproofing is a great idea!)

• whistle (this is not required but a smart idea whenever venturing in the woods. We utilize the buddy system and girls are not allowed to go anywhere without their buddy...but still a good idea)

• girls are welcome to bring a pocket knife but they will not be allowed to use it until their unit completes knife safety

Mess kits vary A LOT. What you get depends on you. I have a kit that you can cook with. Meaning, I can use the items in my mess kit to cook my own food directly over the fire. I like versatility so that’s why I went with that one. However, for the needs of camp, all you really need is a plate, bowl, silverware and a cup. The items below are just some of the options out there.
